Ten-Rose Bold Penny 2

Australian duaghter of Kermet: Owned and breed by Chris & Sharon Jordan Ten-Rose Simmential

The following are comments received from Sharon Jordan of Ten Rose Simmentals in Australia regarding Bar 5 Kermet 821N.

I have used Bar 5 Kermet 821N and would have the following comments on the bull.  I am happy with the progeny.

Bar 5 Kermet 821N bred by Ron, Carla and Greg Nolan Manitoba Canada 14.09.03.  Fully imported Fleckvieh embryo from South Africa from Greg Nolans Colesburg Simmental Stud.  Genetics put together by Greg.

In quick reference, the bull is the darkest red currently bred from the South African bulls for Bar 5.   Deep, smooth, double goggled.  Kermet is known for calving ease, as in 28 Kg calves.  Particularly smooth well inlaid shoulders.  In relation to these easy calving features, the bull could be used on any breed of heifer.  The calves are strong and are up and drinking within a few minutes.  The sire and dam carry calving ease, colour, style.

Kermet sold to Greg Kemp, Huntsville Canada, in 2005 for $16,000.  A well known Simmental breeder (Indian Creek Cattle Company).

In looking at the genetics of Kermet, you note the sire................Jahdal Ibbie.   Ibbie is number 3 bull in South Africa, he is one of the BIG 5 - most popular bulls.  Based from pure German fleckvieh genetics of the Kerl line that began in 1958 (further genetics go back many generations on this bull).  Ibbie was bred by AG Le Roux South Africa, successful broad ribbon show winner.  Top 5% for calving ease direct and calving ease to daughters, also top weight for 400 day weight gain.  Over 1500 progeny in South Africa to date.  Calving ease coming in from Benz.

Most noted for pigment, calving ease, muscle.

In looking at the genetics of Kermet, his dam, Locheim Lana 92 is a handy cow.  Shoulder, style and stretch.  10 calvings and 23 total progeny from ET.  Bred by South African Life Member, HW De Waal. Simdex of 92.  Double goggled. Deep, balanced, feminine.  Magnificent dark cherry red.  Carrying elite lines from Congosim & Kykso.  Outstanding fertile producer.

The photo of Ten-Rose Bold Penny was taken a just a few days of age.  We have been happy with the calving ease, the colour, the tan skin, easy temperament and general development.  We are currently on Breedplan for weights which have been above average in the herd and will be Genestar testing in the future.
